Safety & Adventure

Golden Rule - We will not compromise safety in delivering your adventure.

Not Recommended

Power Boats can be very 'bouncy' in bad weather and even in calm conditions you can get the odd shock to the system. So, reluctant as we are to turn away business, we would not recommend a power boat to anyone with back or joint problems or upper or lower body weakness through a medical condition. If you are in any doubt, please discuss with us.

RIBs

We operate two RIBs from our base in Brodick, Arran's principal town. RIBs are Rigid Inflatable Boats built for safety and speed and are the mainstay of all professional groups who take to the water, such as: Police, Military, Port Authorities, offshore and inshore commercial and last, but by no means least, the RNLI lifeboat service.

They are inherently safe by design. However, nothing is taken for granted and our boats are certified by the Marine Certification Authority and are also subject to rigorous maintenance checks.

Your Skipper

To ensure your safety we only employ fully certified, commercially endorsed skippers who will have general experience on the Clyde and specific knowledge and experience of your particular trip.

Risk Assessment

Nothing is taken for granted and each trip from crossing the road from The Shorehouse to boarding the boat is subject to our risk assessment.

Rules of the Sea

Your skipper is in command from the time you put on your offshore gear and lifejackets in The Shorehouse until you take it off again in Brodick. His primary responsibility is to ensure your safety and in support of this, it is your responsibility to follow his instructions. The Skipper can decide that you would endanger yourself or the boat and can refuse to take you. In extreme cases he can put you ashore during the trip. You will be glad to hear that in three years of operation we have not had an 'extreme case'.
